Nike SB 'Black Bar' Dunk High Pro Shoes

The Nike SB 'Black Bar' Dunk High Pro Shoes are a result of a link up between the famed skate bar and restaurant BLACK and graffiti artist Neckface. Designed to an almost all black colourway, there are hints of wolf grey on the outsole and across the custom branding details.

The shoe takes influence from the memorable aesthetic of both the Hollywood and Long Beach Black Bar locations, which have a solid black shell and two tone tiles. The uppers are made from premium black leather and nubuck, the toes have perforated detailing and the laces have a coated finish which gives a subtle sheen. Embroidered ‘Black’ text has been stitched in silver using the bar’s distinctive worn away logo.

A signature Swoosh can be seen on both sides with the tail ends continuing to meet at the heel. Based in California, renowned guerrilla style artist Neckface has worked with Nike previously to customise SB designs. He has designed the overall look of this Dunk Pro as well as creating the geometric print that is seen drawn with wolf grey lines within the Swoosh leather side panels. The insole also features the custom print which has a reverse colourprint of a grey background and black lines.

The sole has a signature Dunk High unit which has been created with two layers, a black midsole and contrasting grey outsole. The mid section has subtle ‘Black’ text on both sides which can be seen when it catches the light. The tread features a custom grip-driven design with debossed Nike SB branding in the centre. Completed with ‘Always Bet On Black’ below Nike SB branding on the cushioned tongue panel, the ankle has a leather border which adds to the comfort and skate-ready design of this style.

Bar BLACK is a well known skate bar based in Hollywood and has a newly opened branch in Long Beach. The social hot spot is owned by Bethany Black and Shannon McManus who have backing from various skateboarders including Heath Kirchart and Jerry Hsu. Also based in California, Nasty Neckface has a reputation for his dark humour combined with a gruesome illustrative style, seen across graffiti, apparel and skate decks.
